    Opinion, but CNN, nonetheless...

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

You know, it's not like we haven't done this stuff (Free Speech) before on college campuses.

LSU had a famous space between buildings known as Free Speech Alley back in the 1960's. As long as what you were advocating wasn't illegal...Illegal as in overthrowing the government by force or assassination of political leaders, get on your soapbox and preach away. Discuss and argue to your heart's content. Scream at each other, as long as things didn't turn violent. Sorry, no bullhorns or electronic amplification.

But...This all took place in an area where kids did not have to go. Some would wander through for amusement. Some never dropped by. Some avoided the place like the plague. Some that frequented were true believers in whatever.

As for the rest of the campus, keep your signs, slogans an arguments out of any public places. Break the rules, and explain to mom and dad why you were chunked out of the university.

      Maybe crazy, but it worked.

This isn’t rocket science. Calling for Intifada is free speech. Chanting “River to the Sea” is free speech. Hell, chanting “gas the Jews” is free speech.

Spitting on people is assault. Chasing people is criminal menacing. Physically preventing access to entrances and exits is a form of assault. Prosecute those.

Oh, and free speech doesn’t mean that it’s consequence free. Private companies are perfectly allowed to choose to not hire somebody participating in these protests, and the technology exists to basically legally eliminate anonymity.

Free speech, as enshrined in the Constitution specifically refers to the GOVERNMENT'S restrictions on speech. However, many institutions have decided to accept that standard. Private industry...not so much. Say things, find out what happens.

The issue is not so much the fact that Harvard et al are turning a blind eye to this speech, it's the fact that for at least a decade, saying "hurtful things" can get you into serious academic trouble.

Some speech, apparently, at Harvard, et al, is more free than other speech.

And Nazis marching through Skokie is free speech as well.

I administer the HOA Facebook group.

When someone screams FREE SPEECH (maybe every few months) at me I remind them that we don't have free speech here. This is a censored Group and I am the censor.
