After Going Viral With $56 Million Wedding, Groom Faces Decades in Prison
The groom from the “wedding of the century,” which went viral last month on TikTok, is facing life in prison. Jacob LaGrone, 29, shot to social media fame in November when his wife, 27-year-old Madelaine Brockway, posted videos of their lavish wedding to TikTok. Various outlets peg the cost of the event at anywhere from $56 million to $89 million.

But it seems the newfound fame has come with a price. The Washington Post reported that LaGrone is currently at the center of a criminal investigation, and faces decades in prison. A legal matter that likely would have played out in private is now unfolding on a national scale.

Authorities allege that, on March 14, police in Westworth Village, TX responded to a litany of disturbance calls at the same address. When officers arrived at the residential home to assess the situation, LaGrone allegedly “fired upon” them, according to an indictment reviewed by The Post. The filings allege that LaGrone “did intentionally and knowingly threaten imminent bodily injury” to several police officers, and “did use or exhibit a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault, namely, a firearm”.

LaGrone was arrested at the time and later released on a $20,000 bond. However, he’s still facing a battle in court. In Texas, a crime against a police officer that results in serious injury is considered a first-degree felony. The range of punishment is vast—anywhere from five to 99 years, or even life in prison.
