“You just pass a law that says if the deficit is more than 3% every sitting member of congress is ineligible for reelection”.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

      Nice sentiment.

      Now, do the constitution.

It's no different, other than context, than age limits.

Sure it couldn’t be a law, it would be an amendment. but his point is a good one - align the incentives.

            Absolutely agreed.

            What incentive would you align?

Pay cut %, for congress, equal to the deficit %.

Or maybe double the deficit %.

              Or more.

Or maybe for all federal employees, except military.

Some more ideas that can never be implemented, but make us sound as though we're really tough:

They could pass a law that says they will start executing federal employees, 100 each week (excluding military, obviously, except for the woke military, those bastards...), then that would work even better.

Or how about if they don't cut the deficit we start detonating bombs randomly at undisclosed locations?

Or you could hold their children hostage.

                I was only joking

This one might have merit ...

They might be better off just hiring Warren Buffet and have him invest all tax revenue in the stock market for a couple of years.

The thing is, they are holding our grandchildren hostage.
