I learned three days ago that Nail Polish Remover will safely remove magic marker from fabric sofa without hurting or bleaching the fabric. I was impressed.

Acetone is your friend.

It's also good for getting residual glue off of things.

Another good solvent is a product called Goof Off. I prefer it to acetone as can be used on vinyl and other plastics which acetone would dissolve or melt.
