I am absolutely convinced that there is "alien life" out in the universe, but there is no credible evidence that the government is hiding it from us. Why would the aliens agree to cover up their own existence just because the government tells them to do so? If they have visited us, I have yet to see any credible evidence to support it. Although it's anecdotal, I have spent untold number of all-nighters imaging and observing the universe. I have seen nothing to suggest that "they are here". Why are they so elusive? Why don't they make themselves known to us? They could possibly solve most, if not all of our problems here. Do away with all of this mystical bullshit that keeps us hating each other. Just one galaxy M31 (actually there are several galaxies in that image) that I had the lead role in imaging. M31 contains hundreds of billions of stars. It's bigger and more populous than the Milky Way Galaxy. To believe that no other evolving and life sustaining planet exists, even in our own galaxy, is just ignorant.
I don't need to hear one word on the subject from a hate-filled, division generating marketeer. And human "testimony" means absolutely nothing to me. What exactly makes a human "credible"? Humans lie. Even when "under oath".

My dad posited that theory when I was maybe a young teen. he had read something that stated the rapid growth of homo sapiens' brains could not reasonably be explained by evolution, ergo it must have been...ALIENS!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
