Seems as unlikely as it would be useless. What did he have, 54MM followers?
And probably half hate-followed him.

Seems to me like East Germany and modern China find pretty good uses for seemingly innocuous citizen data.
I don't own any tinfoil hats, I'm talking about whether there is actually any utility in having more data on citizens. And of course there is. A sea of immaterial data can be parsed to craft a narrative about a person to make them guilty of whatever you'd like them to be guilty of.

And prevent them from getting to the funeral of a loved one. Deeper in the tweet:
"We even had one gentleman that was there for a funeral, they were put on this domestic terrorist list just because of their geographic location to Washington D.C."
How far behind can "social credit scores" be?

The UK doesn't have social credit scores, but they do record the shit out of everybody doing everything all the time.
We'll have our own answer soon enough. All we need is a motivating big bad like an orange sociopath or a terror event and we'll gladly line up.

Every month I get a report from the County Government with digital map links that will show every single cell phone that came onto Workhouse property, where they were at for up to 4 hours before coming to Workhouse, and where they went for up to 4 hours after leaving Workhouse. From a marketing perspective it seems brilliant. From a civil rights perspective? I’m buying more aluminum foil…

We could save a lot of money if Xi helped Joe in setting up the process for collecting and then parsing the information. After a while it will be dirt cheap, compared to the benefits of how the info is used.
I guess we will also need more cameras everywhere. Xi helping comrade Joe. Has kinda a ring to it, eh?
