    A litany of examples where the GOP use state powers to deny municipalities many rights to self-govern, including passing new laws that would allow the state to remove locally elected officials, take over certain local functions, replace local oversight boards, restrict what ordinances may be passed, dictate what percentage of a municipality's budget need to be allocated to which functions, etc. -- all examples of the GOP using big state government powers to weaken local control. What the GOP used to say about liking small government and local control, it appears they don't mean it anymore.
