Another protest in the SF Bay area shut down the Bay Bridge for hours. Traffic was backed up for up to 20 miles.
Originally CHP officials said 50 arrests were made, but the SF Sheriff’s Office updated later that around 80 protesters were cited and released. At least 15 cars were towed as well.
They said that the protesters parked their cars on the bridge and threw their keys into the bay.
And this:

Liability, baby.
But then I have long said we should not tolerate any protest that impedes any public thoroughfare.

Same for political rallies/conventions, visits by political leaders and celebrities, parades, sporting events (e.g., city marathons). Move them to unpopulated areas where there are no one to bother.

Can you seriously not see the fundamental difference between these activities?
Dude, I am agreeing with you. I just think you think too small, too narrowly. I support what you said, and expanded it to include more scenarios.
If you believe I missed certain key differences, enumerate them and we can discuss.

Fair enough. But I draw a distinction between activities that are simply intended to inconvenience and those that are a matter of public participation.

Public protest is a matter of public participation too, is it not?

I know that Ax is being Ax, but I get what he is saying (I think).
One mans rally is another mans protest.
President Trump/Biden holds a rally that blocks off the surrounding streets.
Abortion in favor/against group holds a rally that blocks off the surrounding streets. No easy answers. At least there is the freedom to hold these and I guess that is better than the opposite.

With permits - legal.
Abortion in favor/against group holds a rally that blocks off the surrounding streets.
Without permits - illegal.
Simple.

No, TG, that completely misses the point. Rallies and sport events etc. do not INTEND to cause traffic problems, it's a secondary characteristic of widely popular events. These protests intend to use impeding ingress and egress as a weapon.
