The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

        And Texas smiled...

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

the city will have to make budget cuts that will reduce NYPD officers to below 30,000 & slash the Education Department by $1 billion, amongst other cuts.

It might be more accurate to say he chose those cuts.

As opposed to cutting waste, fraud and abuse.

Every mayoral candidate promises to cut that but then discovers there’s no ‘Waste, Fraud, and Abuse’ line item in the budget.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

There are two major problems. First, to accurately identify waste, fraud, and abuse, you actually have to invest into an audit. Voters generally have a negative view of somebody that says they are going to save money actually start by spending money.

2nd there a ton of legal obstacles to cutting fraud and waste. Remember those $500 hammers? They aren’t that absurd anymore, they are $50 on a GSA Schedule. The same hammer is $7 on Home Depot.com but they cannot order it there, they have to go through the GEA process…

I would love to create an administrative agency whose sole job was to identify and eliminate waste. And the funding for the agency would be a percentage of the identified and eliminated waste.
