The More You Know

Maybe people communicated less outside their own social circles.
My dad told me that joining the RAF as part of National Service in the late 1940's was when he discovered how many unbelievably stupid people there were. He said most of them had stripes on their arm

Is it just me, or has the coming of the internet made most people dumber?
Well, it’s a lot easier to not think and just copy other people’s thoughts.
You had to work a little harder to know something before the internet.

I don't think so. It's just that we SEE the dumb more now.
I agree with the Mik.
From a famous quote:
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Consider this thought experiment:
Impose a restriction that says one can only publich online one "long" post every other day (can be written words or music or video or drawing/diagram) and three "short" posts every day (which can include responses to the "long" pieces posted before).
Will that cut down on the ratio of "dumb" things you see online?
Or will the overall volume of things posted online goes down but the "dumb" ratio stays about the same?
