Appomattox is a wonderful park. The living historians there are superb, as is the condition of the buildings. You can feel the spirits of those who passed through that day.

        Honor has died.

Our sense of history is on life support.

And Gen Lee was melted into slag.

Certainly any sense or appreciation for individual nobility.

Look at how they're handling current affairs, though. I think their cultural influence is on the decline.

Lord, I hope so. How many times have I said that judging past actions by today's standards is a fool's errand.

This was on my list for years, I finally got it last month.

It is basically a textbook. I bought it for the maps.

I am about halfway through it. The Confederates are doing pretty good so far.

The world is definitely different now. The Chicago chapter of the Audubon Society has renamed itself as the Chicago Bird Alliance - cuz, you know, Audubon is purported to have bought and sold slaves, engaged in plagiarism and exploited natural resources. So, a fie upon him and all his works.

The guy either has virtue or he doesn't.

                    No virtue? Audubon is out.

The former superintendent of West Point had his portait taken down and his statue melted. Shame what they did to Mars Robert.

I wonder what Grant or Sherman would say?

Sherman would have been there with a blowtorch.

Grant I think would find it disgraceful.
