Carlson: "I can't interview Putin."

I agree that it's foolish and he'll come off looking like a Putin apologist and hack.
(Insert Renauda's comment here: _____________)
But if his claims are true - and that's a big "but" - what place does the US government have in preventing a "journalist" from interviewing a world leader.
I know, I'm playing devil's advocate here. Putin is a reprehensible MoFo. But to gag Carlson?

Is Carlson really gagged?
Carlson makes a claim, but where’s the proof, the corroborations?@Axtremus said in Carlson: "I can't interview Putin.":

Carlson makes a claim, but where’s the proof, the collaborations? How would that actually happen? Do they prevent him from either travelling to meet him or jam them from meeting online?

It's a war.

It's what he does for a living.
Will Mr. Putin appear to be evil enough?
That could go either way.

We’re prohibited from doing business with Russia. Why is Carlson more important than proper businesses?

WOULD THE BBC HAVE INTERVIEWED ADOLF HITLER IN 1932?

Actually, I would love to see the BBC’s Stephen Sackur hold Putin’s feet to the fire in a one on one interview. I don’t believe Putin would be capable of finishing the session.
Watching Tucker Carlson softball Putin in return for what he wants to hear for any length of time would be bordering on pornography.
