Eyeglasses.
A recent survey by Consumer Reports ranked eyeglass providers by quality, price and customer service. Costco, independent shops, Warby Parker, private doctor's offices and Sam's Club were the highest ranked in the survey.
Guys, you can get by a lot cheaper. My last three pair have come from either EyeBuyDirect or Zenni. I wear a bifocal and metal frames. Cost has been $60-$70 per pair. My wife's prescription in more complicated, as she has significant astigmatism and wears progressive trifocals. A plastic frame with flex hinges recently cost her $80.
Now, it helps that the wife was a ophthalmic tech. But if you look at the numbers in a few of your old frames, you can come up with a very good idea of the range of frame width, bridge width and leg length. The next most important measurement would be your PD. Either have your eye doc jot it down, find it on an old receipt or have someone at home help you measure it by a cardboard tool or with a marker, an old pair of glasses and a measuring tape.
I've bought glasses for us and for the grandkids with these online retailers. I have not yet received a misground lens. Give them the right parameters and everything should be ok.
