I just published the following message to our HOA.

    I hate ants.

If you aren't from the south you may not be familiar, these things are a pain.

RESIDENTS OF CYPRESS CREEK SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WE NOW HAVE A FIRE ANT POPULATION LIVING AMONG US.

I have seen several fire ant mounds throughout the neighborhood over the last 2 weeks, including a few in my front lawn.

I am not an expert on fire ants, but during the last week I learned more than I wanted to know. If you are allergic, or otherwise vulnerable, to fire ants, an encounter can be life threatening.

YOUR PETS CAN BE SURPRISINGLY VULNERABLE TO INJURY, ESPECIALLY IF THEY DISTURB A FIRE ANT MOUND.

As I said, I am not an expert, but I advise you to become familiar with fire ants and use caution dealing with them.

There are several methods for dealing safely with fire ant removal.

Here are a few links related to fire ants, you might find some useful information, including a newspaper article from today’s Virginian Pilot.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I like ants, but would only observe fire ants from a distance. LOL

There is a very cool book I have on ants which is worth reading if you are interested.
