@LuFins-Dad at least McCarthy had the good sense to wait more than four and a half hours after Biden took office...

                        Wikipedia:

On January 21, 2021, the day after the inauguration of Joe Biden, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) filed an article of impeachment against President Biden. Her articles related to the Biden–Ukraine conspiracy theory. Greene alleged abuse of power while Biden previously served as vice president of the United States. Her article of impeachment claimed that Viktor Shokin was investigating the founder of Burisma Holdings, a natural gas giant in Ukraine. Biden's son Hunter Biden had served as a member of the board since 2014.

                        Well, there you go.

And the witch from Mass threatened it even before Trump was inaugurated.

In December 2016, Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren, Dick Durbin, Chris Coons, Ben Cardin, and Jeff Merkley introduced a bill that would require the president of the United States to divest any assets that could raise a conflict of interest, including a statement that failure to divest such assets would constitute high crimes and misdemeanors "under the impeachment clause of the U.S. Constitution".

There’s talk, there’s websites, and there’s filing actual articles through the formal process in the house.

                            This is interesting:

But McCarthy’s decision to open the impeachment inquiry on his own without an authorization vote from the entire House could open the door for the Biden administration to challenge Republican subpoenas. In 2019, when then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opened an impeachment inquiry into former President Donald Trump, the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel issued an opinion saying the inquiry—and resultant subpoenas—was invalid because the House had not formally voted to authorize it. Five weeks later, the House voted to endorse the impeachment inquiry into Trump.

So why not hold a vote?

Most lawmakers were reluctant to say McCarthy’s impeachment inquiry will end in a vote floor vote, which would put the 18 GOP representatives from districts Biden won in 2020 in an uncomfortable position.

It’s actually binding on the Biden Administration unless they go outbid their way to issue a new opinion.

That opinion — issued by the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel — came in response to then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to launch an impeachment inquiry into Trump without initially holding a vote for it. Not only is it still on the books, it is binding on the current administration as it responds to Tuesday’s announcement by Speaker Kevin McCarthy to authorize an impeachment inquiry into Biden, again without a vote.

That's not a reason to continue the same malfeasance.

Yes. Impeachment is a fool's errand. He'll never be convicted. I imagine the McCarthy strategy is to just prove that Biden (et al) are just corrupt enough to dissuade people from supporting him.
