      The WGA is unhappy:

      https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/real-time-with-bill-maher-returning-to-air-without-writers-amid-strike-1235590612/

“Bill Maher’s decision to go back on the air while his Guild is on strike is disappointing,” the WGA added in a lengthier statement posted to X on Wednesday night. “If he goes forward with his plan, he needs to honor more than ‘the spirit of the strike.’

“As a WGA member, Bill Maher is obligated to follow the strike rules and not perform any writing services,” the statement continued. “It is difficult to imagine how Real Time can go forward without a violation of WGA strike rules taking place. WGA will be picketing this show.”

He already said exactly how he will move forward without using writers. I think he’s doing the right thing.

The article says that Leno and Conan aired while writers were on strike.

          I wasn't aware of that.

I remember the masses being impressed by Letterman's show changing little during that writer's strike. The implication was that he was writing his own top 10 lists, and people were impressed by that. I suppose these days, he'd have been canceled for it. Figuratively of course.

I couldn't open the link that George had. How is he going to do that? Just kind of have a "free form" discussion each show?

In other news, CBS informed 60 Minutes they will be going to 90 minutes. It gives CBS something to follow the late afternoon NFL game and will cover them to the 830p(CDT) or 9p slot.

That’s the core of the show anyway. He won’t be opening with a monologue or anything scripted.

Don't know if actors and production people would cross the picket line, but...

There are a lot of old radio and tv shows where scripts already exist. Some of them were well written.

Could someone use those old scripts and just make very minor adjustments in scenery and dialogue to make new productions?

For example, there are probably over 200 Yours truly, Johnny Dollar episodes.

                    An example...
