Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

tl;dr: Todays enemy is the other tribe, not Russia. Reaganism is anything you want it to be, as long as it’s new.

I'd like what Pence was saying if the GOP had not also spent like drunken sailors this century.

Not only this century, even Reagan increased spending bigly in the last century.

Yeah, it was Stockman who started deficits don't matter. But there was a purpose behind that spending - to bankrupt the USSR., And it worked. This century has simply been a lack of fiscal discipline.

There are always “purposes” behind spending. “Defeat Russia,” “war on drugs,” “war on poverty,” “save the planet/environment,” “fight the Gulf War(s),” “save the children,” “care for the seniors,” “save the housing market,” “save the global financial markets,” “healthcare for all,” “fight this or that pandemic,” “higher education for all,” “build back American infrastructure,” etc. Just a matter of which ones you believe are worth the spending, then you call those “investments.”

Good. Now do healthcare. By itself.

Mike Pence is never going to get elected president. The Trump folks hate him because he betrayed the greatest President since Abraham Washington, centrists aren't really likely to embrace somebody who's quite as "staunch" as he is, and more importantly than either he appears to have had charisma-bypass surgery.

Vivek's not going to get elected either, obviously. He used the words 'Reagan' and 'cool' in the same sentence. The only thing that made Ronald Reagan 'cool' was death.

Pence would make a good Senator.

I didn't follow his career, but I understand he was a good governor, no?

Yeah, his politics aside, that's how he comes across. A steady pair of hands / serious / responsible kind of guy

Pence would be a good president administratively. He just doesn't have the personality on the stage to win everyone over. I suspect he's much different one on one.
