We shouldn’t understate just how critical this narrative has been for recalcitrant Remainers. The zombie factoid – that Brexit Britain is performing uniquely poorly among G7 members – was being repeated in the media right up to the point that the figures were revised. An article in the New European last week, just two days before ONS revision, claimed that ‘the UK economy is still below its pre-pandemic level, and will not surpass that level until late 2024’.

Why do governments keep "revising" numbers? It's almost as thought...

I think the idea that the UK is independent of the EU is a delusional fantasy. As I pointed out in another thread, they've largely abandoned the UKCA mark, which allowed British regulation of what was sold there, and have instead decided to continue to require CE marked equipment. In other words, the goods are required to comply with EU legislation, a legislation often derided by those who opposed Brussels. And now, the UK has no influence in changing this legislation, whilst still being required to comply.

The Brexit campaign claimed that the huge amount of money that was being paid to Brussels was going to go to fund the National Health Service. How did that work out?
