More bad stuff making me think
-
A woman I've known at work for 20 years had some fairly major health issues - a few years back she'd had a stroke, and seemed to be recovered. Then this year she went out on extended leave, we weren't told anything, which is normally how it goes nowadays.
She came back in last Thursday after a few months, and I was chatting to her for a fair amount of time - she'd had a mechanical valve fitted after open heart surgery. I was aiming to help her with the office move as she was clearly not up to anything physical, but she seemed quite optimistic.
This morning we got the email that she'd passed over the weekend. She can't have been more than about 60. Her daughter was the same age as mine.
This sucks.

Ah, man.
Sorry to hear, Phibes.
How is her family doing?

I don't know - we often don't hear about that stuff. I think she had a good circle of friends and belonged to a church, so hopefully there'll be a support network for them. We're waiting to hear details, we just got a short announcement.

I have a real tough time dealing with such things as well. After my heart attack and stroke, well, one can't help but to try not to think of it all. Just keep in mind, my mom lived in reasonably good health until age 101, and that was after surviving cancer, heart issues, etc. You just never really know, I guess.

Wow. Sorry to hear for her.
