If someone were in possession of such audio why would they bring it to Newsmax rather than Fox/WSJ/NYPost etc?

A more likely explanation is some Jack Prosobiac wannabe claims to have it but “won’t release it just yet” and Fox said ‘put up or shut up’, WSJ said ‘yeah right’, NY Post said ‘let’s see the goods’ and they went down and down the credibility list until they found someone to report it.
