My comment:

That statue commemorates the healing that was required to bring the nation back together. To remove it would be disgraceful. It does not honor any actions by the Confederacy, but recognizes the humanity of this part of our history. If we are going to go back that far we may as well expel the Confederate states from the Union.

Among the reasons to have this memorial are a need to heal, a need to come together as a nation and as a people.

Please don’t use this monument to do exactly the opposite.
