Last day we enjoyed a high temp of less than 100.

It was only 97.

BTW, the next day we are expected to have a high temp of less than 100 is August 19th.

Same here. My poor potted fig trees aren't growing. Soil is too hot. My tree in the ground is growing nicely at least. The earth is a fantastic temperature regulator.

Figs need a lot of water in this heat.

I soak them every morning, but they're still all but dormant. Hopefully the figs that started in spring will still ripen eventually, even if the trees aren't putting on new green growth. I recently wrapped the pots, to block the sunlight. Maybe that'll help.
