For the next election, I'd like to propose the Runkle debates:
For each question, a candidate gets five minutes, their opponent then gets a two minute rebuttal.
Candidates are in a sound proof booth the entire time. When it's not your turn to speak, the mic is not live.
If you try to talk or gesture or signal when it's not your turn to speak, on the first offense you get sprayed with a hose. Second offense, a "You Can't Do That On Television" style sliming. Third offense is spiders.
Note: When I say spiders I'm not referring to like "Oh, they look awful but they're really quite harmless" spiders.
