How the Right can win the culture war
-
I'm actually pissed this isn't happening, it's so simple to implement.
Creative fields have historically been left-leaning. That's because the Right has been more traditionalist, which in this context meant narrow and categorical. Not so good for people who want to make new things and explore new ideas. So the Left accommodated the new ideas, the progressive stuff.
It's all flipped now. There's nothing more restrictive than the Left. Get on board, or get mowed down. How is this even remotely compatible with creative industries?
Which is important because politics is downstream to culture. You want to win the culture war? Stop the damn letters to the editor, the soapbox speeches and the campaigning and start making some fucking art. That's where hearts and minds are won.
Fund arts programs. Movies, musicians and graphic projects. TV shows, city murals and sculptures. Our society is starved for it, plenty of our creative professionals would jump at the chance to get out of the propaganda machine, and we're already seeing successes. The biggest up-and-coming comedians out there today are targeting the woke shit. Not for a political reason, but because it's the biggest taboo they have to play with. That's an important distinction.
You really want to win the culture war, though, you're going to have to do something you don't want to do: offer up an environment of plurality. Sure, you can draw some lines in the sand—you don't have to get behind anything blasphemous or immoral—but the Left doesn't allow for any plurality. Offer up some possibilities in the marketplace of ideas and a sandbox for creatives to play in again.
You'll win by landslides.
Too bad they aren't going to do any of it. There are two reasons why the arts have become perverted in America: the Left has perverted it, and the Right completely let them because they'd rather glorify businessmen and sneer at creatives. How's that working out, by the way?

The left likes art. As long as it's a Soviet-style art that glorifies the lies they stand behind, like being for the common man.

The left likes making Soviet-style art. But the rest of us like consuming all kinds of stuff if given the chance.
Everybody likes consuming art. And that's what steers culture.
The Right turns its nose up at watering the fields and then blames the left when their crops die.

The problem is that the Right will want to message in the arts they fund and promote just as much as the left. And they aren’t nearly as good at it. The Jeremy Boring productions are a perfect example. I mean, I love Gina Carano, but I love her as some gun tot in’ space marine side character in an over the top fantasy series. Not as a dramatic lead in a supposedly serious movie…
Fortunately, there have been two recent successes. Sound of Freedom and Super Mario Bros. Two apolitical movies, one serious and the other one not, that just presented a good movie. So there is hope…

Okay, well, don't fucking do that. Do you want to push an agenda or do you want to fix the culture problem?

The left has been mainstream too long to not appeal to the psychological conservative types, who lack openness and are only comfortable with what they know. They know how to virtue signal and be supportive of 'marginalized' communities that they've never met, and never will. And they know how to sneer at the right, and at religion. That's your new cultural conservatism. We see how that genetic predisposition turns out in the arts, where we get parodies of creativity involving formulaic gender or skin color swaps, and characterizations that lack any nuance, because we can't have people seeing the swapped character to be anything less than perfect.

Stories are about 4 orders of magnitude older than contemporary American politics. It's so ingrained in us that 3-year-olds are proficient in telling their own stories, let alone following others.
And the stories they act out aren't woke. They're structural.
The lefty art propaganda doesn't have nearly the hold it appears to. It just appears to because no one's trying to come up with alternatives.

In some quarters, critics are no longer taking a work and judging it on its own merits: they’re judging it through the prism of their own moral ideals.
Uh, where have you been, man? This is literally the curriculum in humanities programs. Has been for a long time.

Hey @Aqua-Letifer , that was quite the statement! Love it!
