Agree with Horace. The 2024 election is the Republics to lose, and right now, they are doing a good job of moving in that direction.

Regard the above quote from the article. My prediction is that if the Republic party continues on the same way, eventually it will split, with the more "extreme" members forming a minor fringe party, and the "less extreme" members moving back to the center.

Ultimately, I think why the US has been so successful, is that it never allows the total population to get to extreme. The majority of the population is not too far on either side of center. If the pendulum swings too far left or right, or if either major party starts to move that way, there is generally a pull back to the center.

From where I sit, the "less extreme" members are in the minority and will remain there. They no longer appeal to many GOP voters.

From my seat, which is admittedly not even in the stadium (LOL), it seems that what is popular locally does not work nationally (or sometimes not even on a state level). Even way back when, there were extreme members from both parties, and there always will be. But I believe that the overall tilt of the Democrats and Republics will move back towards the center.
