Freedom of Religion is a founding principal of this nation and a fundamental human right. There is not a fundamental human right to have a website designed by a specific company for your wedding. Or for a specific baker to make you a specific type of cake, or for a specific florist to create an arrangement for you. Not even the wildest interpretations of the constitution makes that feasible. The entire argument that you can is based on emotions and not logic.

No, because it’s still the same issue and most people against the Supreme Court ruling would likely fall on the same side (just much more quietly).
But change the scenario to one where the “morals” are switched. The prevailing cultural opinion of Westboro is that they are obscene and hateful bigots. Okay. I don’t necessarily disagree. But the fundamental right to religion is still theirs so long as it doesn’t infringe on another’s recognized rights. So they would have the same right to force a content creator to create their proscribed content. Goose and Gander…

Bro I totally agree with you I just thought your condemnation over letting emotions take the front seat instead of the law was pretty funny in context to the same post that uses a short bus crack to make its point. No reason to get too deep into it, I agree with the SC decision.

Much of the reason for Christians being pummeled in this country lies in the nature of the religion. Have a gay group (pick one, any one) start a series of lawsuits such as has been brought against the Colorado bakery, except make it a Muslim bakery.
Chances are very good that a member of that group might find their head on a shovel as a lawn ornament. Not to mention the folks down at the bakery have lots more shovels, with the Faithful standing in line to use them.
Suddenly, the thought of dying for one principles isn't worth the cost of the cake.

This isn't really true. They're not going after Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists either, none of whom have the reputation the Muslims do. The reason that Christians are reported on as doing this is that it's by far the biggest American religion.

I was far more disappointed to see just how many people disagreed with the Loan Forgiveness decision. 45 for and 40 against is really disappointing regarding people’s opinion about rule of law vs. emotion. I also have serious questions for the 15% that are in between.

I’ve followed the polling re Affirmative Action over the years and it depends a lot on wording.
If you ask of race should be taken into consideration, people, including in some polls a majority of blacks, are against it.
If you ask about “Affirmative Action”, it does much better. It seems to have a good brand and/or people don’t actually understand what it entails.

Perception is reality. Deserved or not, Muslims do have a reputation for defending their faith vigorously and sometimes violently. In this country, Christians do not.
Part of that lies in the faith, with Christians knowing they will be mocked, scorned and discriminated against. Not saying that all are pacifists, just saying that some of this stuff is expected.
