Trump supporters better not apply for citizenship

I'm going through the American citizenship application, and I'm struck by how many questions Trumpists would have to answer yes to. Bold and capitals are from the original:
Have you EVER advocated (either directly or indirectly) the overthrow of any government by force or violence?
Yeah, ever heard of January 6?
Have you EVER persecuted (either directly or indirectly) any person because of race, religion, national origin, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion?
Pretty much constantly, as they are all racists and bigots.
Were you EVER involved in any way with genocide?
Case by case basis, I suppose some Magats have not been involved with genocide. Due to a lack of opportunity, but still. Fair's fair.
Were you EVER involved in any way with torture?
They elected Donald Trump, case closed.
Were you EVER involved in any way with killing, or trying to kill, someone?
With all the COVID deaths because of their vaccine hesitancy? You bet they killed people. Directly.
Were you EVER involved in any way with badly hurting, or trying to hurt, a person on purpose?
Again - no mask = murder. Period.
Were you EVER involved in any way with not letting someone practice his or her religion?
They continue to try to keep CRT out of the schools.

You should definitely try being a smart ass on a citizenship application - governments just love that!
I'd also recommend making the same kind of remarks to immigration officials when entering the country. Those guys love a laugh even more!

Is there any reason then, that people have to wait years to finally obtain citizenship? Do all countries practice such a slow process? I know some here have firsthand knowledge on how it works, so maybe there are some good reasons (outside the obvious) for the process we currently have in the U.S.

Generally people apply for US citizenship only after having solved all the problems in their native countries. The US applies this waiting period to allow people to understand what they are getting themselves into, by becoming citizens. They are leaving lives of privilege and luxury to come to the US, in a humanitarian effort to try to fix the most unfixable of nations. It is difficult to teach people the real effects of the racism and bigotry and systematized hate in America, until they have the lived experience. The US government hopes that those who are not willing or able to undertake this struggle against the oppressors, to please stay in their own countries. This war is not for the faint of heart, nor for the impure of heart. Only the most courageous and noble people can survive the struggle here.

She's becoming a citizen today, four months after I clicked through the online application process. I am surprised it was that quick. Might have been even quicker, but their original interview was scheduled while she was visiting china, and we had to postpone a few weeks.

Congratulations Horace. When I got Canadian citizenship I was surprised by how emotional I got. And apart from anything else it takes away any uncertainty in future if the political landscape shifts

Thanks all. She’s ambivalent about it, but she will love the passport. And maybe someday we will bring her parents here to live with us. That’s only possible if she’s a citizen.

It would be interesting to hear her thoughts on what it all means, but IT'S NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS RAINMAN!
My parents thought it was a big deal as I recall, but they always considered themselves Estos first, the old country became exaggerated in how wonderful it was in comparison. -
It's purely transactional to her, no emotion, but for some regret at giving up her Chinese citizenship. She's not a huge fan of America. It's just where she has to be, in order to spend her life with the world's greatest husband.
