Ah, y'all want a green planet. And then you go do the one thing that causes engines to fail prematurely, along with cylinder drop-out technology.
Tell me, what's the carbon footprint of building a new engine?

Some engines already do this.

Yes, they do it. It creates more wear on the rings. In engines with direct injection, it creates more carbon buildup. Both lead to increased oil consumption, and oil being burned and blown out the exhaust. And finally, premature engine failure.
