This ain't what you're thinking...
Was watching an old B-Movie on YouTube, The Top of the World. Using some decent actors such as Dale Robertson and Evelyn Keyes, it was story set in the mid 1950's about the derring-do of the USAF in Alaska and the Arctic. The USAF helped the movie out a lot, angling for good PR.
A rescue plane that figured prominently in the movie was a B-17. Stripped of her guns, she had twice the range of a C-47. Come to find out, the old warhorses had several uses after WW2...
