      Most rulings don’t split along any ideological grounds. The culture war topics are few and far between though they capture the public’s attention.

      That probably helps explain why justices get along and make friends. Most of the time everything is hunky dory between them with differences being pretty technical and of little significance.

        Yes, and I seem to recall an article from a few years ago looking at how decisions break. Surprising and hardly consistent with the rhetoric you hear.

          There was a recent case that, while not significant in culture wars, will have obvious precedent value for future culture war cases. It was decided 5-4.

          The dissenters? Roberts, Alito, Kavanaugh, Jackson.

          I’ll post about it later because it’s interesting.
