    The U.S. is crying because they can't build ships fast enough. But we've done a lot of that to ourselves.

    From cargo ships to refitting battleships, Avondale did it all. Until it was closed. I remember when Avondale employed 26,000 people.

    Now, the Port has bailed out the new owners. Owners that no longer build ships...

      Been through there several times. I'd bet it was bustling in the early 70's.

          The Gulf was hopping. Heck, in 1980 they were still building and refitting in San Diego.

            A couple of well placed nukes would eliminate our ship building capability.
