Ein Deutsches Requiem
Interesting that his piano sonatas never achieved the popularity of the smaller works.

Opus 21 #1 is a lesser known and rarely performed piece that I love. The theme is gorgeous, and the finale achieves some rare musical heights.

My favourites:
- Piano Quintet in F minor
- Violin Sonata No. 3 in D minor
- Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor
- Symphony No. 3 in F Major
By and large I adore all his chamber works. Haven’t heard any that I didn’t like.
In my opinion, the man was incapable of writing a bad instrumental piece of music or an out of place note. No padding with that guy.
Can’t comment on his choral works. Have never listened to any of them.

Do the Requiem. It's amazing. I've been fortunate to hear it live three times.
I actually like the English translation version, though @kluurs will probably blow me off on this one.

German Requiem - Klemperer - It's still amazing to me that Brahms wrote this work as a relatively young man - before any of the symphonies.
Concerti 1 & 2 - Gilels/Reiner
Symphony 4
Sonata Op 5
Intermezzi Op 118 #2, 117 #1, 119 & 3 -
