    Interesting piece about tribalism, etc.

She basically acknowledges that the liberalism of California that she used to embrace is now dead.

I don’t understand all the Tucker hype. I also don’t really get all the support he has - given his texts on Trump he was play-acting support for him the whole time.

Why get so passionate about a guy that’s just acting a political view?

Thought that was interesting. I think most of Old Line liberalism is dead.

But...I still think conservatism is still open to free speech and tolerance...At least the majority of conservatives, anyway. I attribute that to an ideology of more individualism on the part of many conservatives.

The only real American political tribe is the left. If you don't want to self identify with that tribe, the tribe of all social climbing and personal ambition, then you are by default categorized as on the right, and probably evil in any number of ways. The left's moral framework is entirely lazy, illiberal, and obsessed with personal gain. That includes most especially the ones who lack the self awareness to see beyond their useless noises about caring about various oppressed classes.

Don't think it's all acting. The hit pieces are coming from FOX right now, because they are trying to craft a narrative. In the case of the emails and the Dominion stuff, I know you aren't naïve enough to equate public speech with private speech.

I never watched Tucker's show, which follows from the fact that I never watch any shows, but it is not my impression that he was a full supporter of Trump. I'm sure he voted for Trump and made that known. It's my impression that Hannity was the Trump guy on Fox.

I bounced through WTF a week or two ago. I do that on a sporadic basis, maybe 7 or 8 times a year. Interesting to see how the other half feels, so to speak.

You know, I was slightly taken aback reading something that a supposedly educated person wrote...That they would not break bread with a conservative, especially somebody who voted for Trump.

Now folks, I've argued with many a person over the years. Got downright mean with a few, if I felt they crossed a line of mutual respect. But I don't think I've ever gotten to the point that I wouldn't buy somebody a drink or sit down and have a conversational meal.

I do not understand what drives such an irrational hate. And that's what that is, pure hate. The kind that leads to fascist cleansings, if left unrebuked by others of similar political persuasion.

I can imagine a few on that board who would say that. It's the righteous mind.

Every single one of them would change their tune, if the culture around them changed. Those are not serious people, and they never have been. The whole split was entirely about social climbers deciding to disassociate themselves with people they felt would be of no benefit to them, and who were easily discarded. It's cowardice, a sacrifice of one's soul, and a complete lack of curiosity. But at the end of the day, they're just apes.

As I have said before, one of the great things about this forum board is that there is a variety of opinion, some I agree with, some I don't agree with, but I always learn something. 👍

I agree that things get selectively leaked without context - but there’d have to be a lot of context to explain his apparent despise of Trump.
