As someone on this forum board said earlier, sending thoughts and prayers seems to work quite well, so lets continue to do that to combat gun violence.

Or take away first shooter computer games (that's Aqua rolling his eyes).

The U.S. Army figured out years ago, that in order to get soldiers to kill people more easily, they had to change the targets from bullseye targets to human silhouettes. Now folks, that's using target silhouettes, not the realistic human targets in computer games.

That's one item for the list.

Or maybe some of these people need some Jesus.

A belief in something bigger than just man. A knowledge that you are loved and valued by God. A roadmap on how to lead a successful and contented life. And the surety of Judgement for your actions and deeds in this life.

Is it a broad panacea to fix all societal ills? No, people are imperfect, society is imperfect and we'll always have problems. But I think most do a little better if they'd take the time to do a bit of Bible reading to start their day and say a prayer or two for their fellow man.

Or maybe some people are batshit crazy and we need to come to the realization that our current rats in a cage lifestyle, our current drug dependent lifestyle, our fractured and nonexistent family lifestyle, our acceptance of the abhorrent and bizarre as just another normal lifestyle, is a fertile breeding ground for nuts.

Nuts living in emotional silos, little ticking timebombs with a burning desire to be "somebody" and go out in a blaze of tik-tok glory.

You also have a couple generations who were shown on a daily basis that the way to solve problems was to kill your enemies. All these inputs wire the brain in ways. We know this. Add in first person shooter games where there is great reward in mayhem, and a zero tolerance school environment where natural conflict and aggression has no outlet and here we are.

                  Absolutely.

My six year-old granddaughter attends a Catholic school where they have less behavior problems than public school. A lot less.

I attribute it to two things:

                  1. Parental involvement. You will be involved in your child's school or your child will not be attending that school. You will allow your child to be disciplined and you will be expected to discipline your child. The school is not expecting the impossible, kids are kids. They care about your child and they demand you reciprocate.

                  2. Recess and structured activity. The kids learn better because they take the edge off of them. The children have adequate, unstructured recess time where they can <gasp> play on the monkey bars, run around the playground or slide down a slide. They also have structured activity where they go in the gym and play games.

You know what? Every now and then a spat takes place on that playground. Nobody is getting maimed, but the kids do learn to play with each other. They sort out leaders, followers, etc.

It's not a perfect system, but it beats the prison mentality of the current public school system.

Good for Ax, though! I'm happy for him and his newest excuse to whip out the soapbox.

                        Please love yourself.

Yet 836 murders in Chicago alone in 2022, and not a peep outside of murder du jour on the local news.

There should be a law against mass shootings.
