        I’m kinda wondering of the situation up there too. I’m 190 kms south. He’s about 135 kms east. The wind is wicked here. And that’s bad if it extends north. The news says 25,000 people were evacuated. That’s huge. Lots of folks scrambling to get livestock out. Miles and miles of vehicles leaving. No doubt a provincial wide state of emergency will be declared.

          Fine where I am. Two friends 60 miles to the south & west of where we are have been evacuated the last 48 hours. Hoping for rain this evening; my arthritic friends tell me it’s coming. I’m not sure because the wind is still blowing from the SE. Rain doesn’t fall here unless the wind is from the west or NW.

            @Renauda You’re ok & I’m okay. Good. 350,000 ha on fire now. This has me a little spooked as trains sparked 3 dramatic grass fires last week, one was 700m from my front door. It’s cooler now. Rain would be good.

              @blondie

              Yikes! I think some of the fires around here ohave been sparked by trains as well. That, or firebugs and careless smokers. There’s been no lightening to my knowledge. Not a lot of bush/field campers either in farmers fields where most of the fires near Evansburg have started.

              Here’s a photo from Evansburg a friend sent me this am. He got it from a local farmer who is a volunteer fire fighter:

                    Renauda, thank you for letting us know how things are for you right now. Glad there is the chance for rain soon.

                    Gotta agree with Blondie, the pic you linked looks frightening.

                        It rained a bit last night. Good. Haven’t googled how much these fires have spread west of me. This year the fires are early.
