I would say the USSR won the war but lost the ensuing peace. The current regime is losing a war of its own creation and the future peace at the same time. Quite an accomplishment of political ham handedness and leadership incompetence.

Yeah, the editorial was interesting but really says nothing that was not already a known known.

Maybe to you, but although I knew a good many Russians had immigrated to Israel, I had no idea it was likely the third most popular language in Israel .

That changes the zeitgeist of a country...

I seem to recall bach pointing out some years ago that Russian had become a widely spoken language of choice in Israel in conjunction with the impact immigration from former USSR states was having on the Israeli political scene.
