@Aqua-Letifer it shall ever be thus.

That's a freaking awesome ad. Doesn't ring true for me a damn bit, though.

Used to be, my folks and I wouldn't understand each other. Like at all. But we cared about each other and we were always around. Which led to an absolute shitload of disagreement but at least there was some kind of relationship there.

Now, there's no disagreement and we get along fine, but they sure as shit aren't my parents. At least most of the time. They're crazy stoners who are finally enjoying themselves having left their offices, so thank goodness for that, and they do love their grandkid, which is great. But they have no idea who the fuck I am. After an 8-day stay, there might be up to 18 combined minutes of clarity in which they remember I'm their kid. Never lasts long, though.

It's not senility, at least not yet. They just retired from being parents in addition to their jobs.

    I don't think that's normal, so I figured I'd ask.

    @Aqua-Letifer
Aqua, are you serious that they are stoners? Like weed or whatever?

How do they function? Are they driving while stoned? I'm trying to picture seniors doing this. No, not as a 'how to' example, more of a 'why would they' .

Yep. It's pretty common among today's retirees.

      How do they function?

That's why they do it. They've got a handful of health issues, and it's much harder to function without it.

      Are they driving while stoned?

Nah, they're not that reckless (yet; who knows about later). But if they aren't traveling, they're gettin' high.

      Please love yourself.

Hey @Mik , think of this… in the next 4 years or so, @jon-nyc will be able to date your daughter according to the ol’ lech formula…

I'll wait until I'm in chronic rejection so the bullet from Mik's gun will be welcome.

Nah, @jon-nyc has been able to date all four of @George-K’s daughters according to that formula and nothing bad has come of it yet.

It's not even with retirees. I know empty nesters who have become stoners. The kids are gone and they have nothing else to do but wait to retire or become grandparents. So they get high. I kind of feel bad for them.

                          Oh, and congrats Mik!

I’ll agree too. Retired folks and old folks. They love their drugs. I think Covid helped this along. Along with it being legal here.

@Mik @Jolly Would it be more accurate to say that you see your kids as adults, or that there are adults walking around out there who used to be your kids? (Or, how would you put it?)

My kids will always be my kids. Yes, they are adults and I really enjoy their company as adults, but they're still my kids.
