@Jolly , srsly, you went to a British tabloid to read about a local school issue?

Here, read what the local newspaper has to say: https://www.theolympian.com/news/local/education/article274517106.html

Now, tell me what is factually incorrect in the Mail story?

        I'll wait...

This is what happens when voters reject levies. My brother lives there and I'm pretty sure he voted against higher taxes.

We are the empty nesters who campaign for the school levies. What do I care about $500 a year if my house is then worth $20-30K more? The district next to us defeated levies for several years. The net result was property values dropped like a rock. You couldn't sell your house for anything near what you paid for it, if you even got an offer.

The flip side of that is that government entities need to be good stewards of the people's money. Too many tax dollars are spent on A) things not needed, often to pad somebody's pocket, or B) Mandates from higher levels of government, especially the Feds.

@Mik, yeap, I very much support adequately funding the local public schools, and I am proud to say that I have put in some volunteer efforts in the last few years to help with getting the school bond passed and advocating for increased funding from the state for my local school district.

This is true, but I think in most cases school systems are pretty good stewards. they're local people, often educators. They face a lot of scrutiny. Now, on the mandates I am fully with you and would still like to see the DOE vanish like a fart in the wind.

So, this is primarily a funding issue rather than a racism issue?

                  I was only joking

Whether Ax will admit or not, both stories are true.
