"He is already your slave. This will make him mine."

      Fantastic.

      I wonder if there's a followup.

A wonderful treat this morning, Jon. Thanks.

          Snopes:

"Although we can't say whether Steinbeck's young relative ever received the asked-for photograph, we can verify that the letter is genuine. It was part of Monroe's personal archive, which she left with the bulk of her estate to her acting coach, Lee Strasberg upon her death in 1962. Strasberg's second wife, Anna, subsequently inherited the letter and auctioned it off in 2016 for a winning bid of $3,520."

&3500? Hell I would have outbid that.

Imagine how cool it would be having that hung up on your wall. What a conversation piece.

Makes me think the auction house did a horrible job.

Or there are so many thousands of celebrity letters out there since that was the letter era, that prices are just low.

But still, you’d think there would be Marilyn fans or Steinbeck fans for whom this would be special.

Snopes says the letter, found in Ms. Monroe's possession after her death, is real.

Nobody seems to know if there was a reply.

Steinbeck being Steinbeck. That was excellent.

                            Please love yourself.
