Schmicago

Watching season 2 of "Schmigadoon." This season is "Schmicago." A darker look at musicals than Season 1. Season 1 was all Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, etc. The cinematography was all bright colors and happiness.
Season 2 finds the protagonists in a much darker place - "Schmicago." Much of the cast returns in new roles. The tribute to later musicals (Cabaret, Chicago, Hair, Godspell, Sweeny Todd) are just as good as the first season.
For example, from "Chicago," here's Richard Gere doing the "Razzle Dazzle."

The first season was a cute idea, but a one note act. They had one running gag, no character arc that wasn’t contrived. It got tired halfway through. While I admire the creativity, I think it needs better treatment

I wasn’t aware you were so fond of musicals! We love them. Going to see Hadestown this week.
How did I not know that after nearly 20 years?
