Passenger trains in the US vs. Europe

@Doctor-Phibes that's a bit misleading. The map shows only Amtrak routes, not other passenger rail in the US which is frequently clustered around major cities.
Here's what's in a 60-70 mile radius of downtown Chicago.

Boston.

New York

That said, yeah, the US is woefully under-railed compared to Europe.

Herb Alpert was not even remotely Hispanic. He was Russian, Romanian and Jewish.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herb_Alpert
Herb Alpert was born and raised in the Boyle Heights section of Eastside Los Angeles,[4] California, the youngest of three children (a daughter and two sons) of Tillie (née Goldberg) and Louis Leib (or Louis Bentsion-Leib) Alpert. His parents were Jewish immigrants to the U.S. from Radomyshl (in present-day Ukraine) and Romania.
He is married to Lani Hall - one of the vocalists from Brazil '66.

It's why there are still 2 of them in my garage. I think I will keep this 18+ year old S-500 until the wheels fall off it.
I have had it for 10.5 years and it now has over 200k on the odometer so far! I would like to see it go another 10 years 100k or more.
6 disk CD changer, single DVD drive in dash which can hold 4+GB of mp3s. Analog buttons and knobs, etc.

Coffee cups
Very cool, but are the $70-$80 each, cool? I think the novelty would wear off quickly. Would feel terrible if you dropped one! lol

Used. Asking price $10,500 Retail price $21,500
Sure it has two tonearms but, the extra tonearm is "only" $2,200 or so new without a cartidge.
And that is not even close to their top end that retails over $50k.
