So, as I mentioned, I'm working on the Beethoven Pathetique. I've played the 2nd movement for decades, and I thought I'd get the rest of the sonata under my fingers, because...completeness.

Beethoven was the master of the motif, right?

So, the 2nd theme of the first movement, in the recapitulation...

    The Rondo theme A:

How is it that I never knew this????

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Ppfffttt … Beethoven ran out of new ideas.

Well, composers do like to plagiarize themselves.

@George-K Love this! The discovery of things like this in music is one of life's great joys for me.

Looking forward to visiting soon to go over this piece with you. I used to have this memorized. "Used to" being the key phrase here. I went back to look at it last week or so, and I need to re-learn almost the entire piece.

@mark just beginning to learn the Rondo. Fortunately, the entire "A" theme is repeated multiple times, so it's a shorter project.
