Has anyone seen this yet?
Looks very intriguing. She was on Colbert a while ago, and she told the orchestra she conducted in the film, "I'm not a conductor, and you're not actors. Let's get together and see if we can make this work."
She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance.

I certainly want to see it - I saw this a couple of weeks ago about her piano playing in the movie

Haven’t seen the movie, mostly because I generally do not have much interest in biopics these days. How entertaining can a person’s life be? If it’s entertaining, it’s probably not authentic. If it’s authentic, it’s unlikely to be entertaining. I looked at movie listings and saw Tár many times in the listings while it was in theaters, and I asked myself many time “do I really want to know anything more about this person’s life,” and I kept coming back with the answer “no.”
I enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody (the movie) because I enjoyed the music, not because I care much about Freddie Mercury. Following that I watched an Elton John biopic, and quickly realized that I enjoyed it a lot less — I simply did not enjoy the music as much, and I similarly do not care much about Elton John’s personal life. I have been skipping biopics of famous real-life entertainers ever since.
Tár? She would keep rehashing old classics, ones even older than Freddie Mercury or Elton John would. Despite having aspired to conducting orchestras professionally as a young person, these days I simply have no interest in knowing how those in the rarified circle of leading world class orchestras live their lives.

It's not a biopic, as it's not about a real person. It's described as a psychological drama, but it sounds as though they've really done their homework regarding the music.

Worth the $6 rental...
Very, very well done. There's lots of "insider" stuff that only classical geeks will get and appreciate (references to Levine, Dutoit, Karajan) which made it kind of fun.
Blanchett is remarkable. During rehearsals, how she casually slips from German to English without a thought is great.
The person who plays "Olga" the cellist is NOT an actor, but a professional cellist who wanted to act, so she watched Michael Caine's acting to learn. She has a small-ish but important role.
But...
What a depressing movie. A sad, sad ending. I don't know how it could have gone any other way, but geez.
Of note, "Tär's" talking about how she interacted with Leonard Bernstein are probably made up - she only recalls them in her fantasy. Bernstein died in 1990, and Tär appears to be in her late 40s - the movie is set in current day.
Worth the watch.
