I loved the guy on the sax on the left. He was just enough out-of-step to make it fun. Go to 0:45.

    What a great performance.

That's great. I love that music.

That thing's pretty heavy. I'd be terrified I was going to cause a calamity.

      I was only joking

@Doctor-Phibes the other thing I loved is the spectacular choreography of the band. They were SO into it all.

Reminds me of a time, years ago, when I was working with a podiatrist. I had the Frank Sinatra recording of "Under My Skin" playing - the Nelson Riddle arrangement. We were listening to the 1956 recording.

        Link to video

I've got it playing kind of loud, because Dave always told me to "turn up the music." Then, at this moment, after the rumbling quiet of the band builds...the brass section goes nuts, right at 2:15. Dave says, "Can't you just imagine that brass section standing up, all together while the trombonist wails away?"

        Yeah.

          Yeah.

Funny, that's easily my favourite Sinatra recording. I first heard it when Elvis Costello picked it for one of his Desert Island Disks (it's a BBC radio show where celebs pick the records they'd be stuck on a desert island with). Elvis, you and I are clearly men of taste and breeding.

I went to see BB King play in the 1980's, and his brass section were really wailing. They didn't have the dance moves going like this, but they did an entire instrumental set without BB before he came on. Apparently they used to do about 275 gigs a year, so they really knew their stuff, but there wasn't a hint of boredom.

I love the brass best of all. Do you do the Latin Kings?
