Well that was stupid and spiteful. The government does still have a responsibility to the community, and access to public libraries are part of that.

And it does nothing to further their cause and makes those people that don’t want porn in schools to look like the idiots burning Huck Finn back in the 80s. Idiots.

It is the Show Me state.

The bill still must go through the Senate and the governor.

Can you see any governor signing such a bill? Especially after the tsunami of mail that is likely to hit his desk before the bill does?

          I think it's more of a gesture.

No, it’s looking like the inbred state. Come on, man, this is MJT level bullshit at an entire state level. And they aren’t punishing the librarians that filed the suit, they are punishing their constituents. And they just made it a helluva lot harder for parents in purplish states to get some common sense reforms through their state legislatures. Virginia has a split legislative body. It is vital to win over the House of Delegates this fall just to pass a bill requiring schools to consult with parents on all matters regarding their students health. This shit makes it 10 times harder…

Could be, but never underestimate Missouri politics.

And...Never underestimate how pissed off people in the fly-over are about education in general right now. They don't like the groomer movement. They don't want smut in their school libraries. Many are really questioning the validity of public schools as they now exist.

COVID had repercussions far beyond just the disease.

That's OK, the devil worshippers will come in and fill the space left by the legislature.

They will be happy to buy the librarians all the porn they need.

Did you catch LDs point? It’s the association of school librarians that sued, and they’re trying to cut the budget of public libraries. A totally distinct group.

Ehh, that wasn’t my point, and the lawsuit has been filed on behalf of both Librarian Associations, not just the School Librarian Association… But that’s irrelevant to my point. The Libraries serve a vital function to the communities and their voters. You do not shut them down. Fight the suit in the court of law… But serve your constituents. This is horse shit.
