They've been told explicitly to try to avoid arrests and fines if at all possible. And look at the numbers: they're doing that. Look into the arrests and tell me those people didn't deserve to be incarcerated.

@Aqua-Letifer I get it, and I didn’t necessarily disagree with the actions, I just commented that I do worry about where this leads. We all should. When have we ever seen centralized authority willingly release power they were given?

The more freedom and liberty we flex during this, the higher the body count. That's just how it is. Personal freedoms guarantee that the asshats who don't take this seriously will put others at risk. And then there are scads of folks who think they're being safe but aren't in the least, because without a government mandate, they don't understand what a radical change of behavior that requires.
I'm just saying that that's the calculation. I agree with you about how troubling it is.
