I've really enjoyed the Sucklebusters Texas Chili. I made my 3rd batch yesterday, and enjoyed it for lunch - froze enough for 4 more meals.
But...
Can I add some beans? I mean, would I burn in hell for adding beans to "Texas" style chili? What kind should I add?
How about some bacon....

As long as eating it makes you happy, it probably doesn't matter much whether it's proper "Texas chili" or otherwise. Bon appetite!

I, the only real Texan on this board, hereby give you permission to add beans to that chili.

You're Texan in much the same way that W. is from Connecticut.

I think our honorary-Texan-but-actual-Cheesehead Horace is qualified to give you permission to put shredded cheddar on it as well. As a real Texan I shall deputized him to bridge the cheddar-Texas gap.

Can't stand chili or cheese. Some people call me a contrarian, but they don't understand that both chili and cheese are objectively bad.

You're about as Texas as Skyline chili.

Beans?
Not no, but hell to the no.
Bacon? Now, there are no meat rules. Chunk in what you like. Although I'd rather chunk bacon and some burnt ends into a pot of baked beans.
There are some barbecue joints that scrape all the ends and pieces into the baked beans, along with cut-up pieces of slab bacon.

Me neither
Although I make some exceptions, I had pizza for lunch today.
I have eaten chili, but not for decades.

Well, this is a "heresy" thread after all.

The all time best thing you can add to a pot of Texas Red is a big cup of brisket jelly. Nothing gives you that great smoked beef flavor.

HERETICS!
Been looking for a replacement for Longhorn chili since they discontinued it. Delicious stuff. Someone recommended Texas Roadhouse chili to me, so I stopped by tonight to pick some up. They call it Texas Red.
BEANS! The infidels put BEANS in it!!!!!
Pretty decent bowl of Midwestern chili, but Texas Red it ain’t.

In their defense, I asked for jalapeños and they gave me a big cup of fresh sliced ones, not pickled. Yum.

Nope. We get Togo there every other week or so. Karla prefers Longhorn, but I like the chili and their sirloin…
