Big Green is Back

One of the largest ammo plants in the country...

And I thought it was going to be about John Deere. LOL

I thought we were talking about the Global Environmentalist Party, once again subverting the long-suffering oil industry.

Remington reopening that factory means a lot, for both sportsmen and defense. Like many other businesses, the ammo biz has consolidated. Remington, Federal and CCI are owned by Vista. Their main competitor would be Winchester, owned by Olin. Hornady would be a smaller competitor, along with the small brands of Cor-Bon, etc.
But we have a bottleneck...Primers. Only Vista and Olin make primers in the U.S., AFAIK. Previously, reloaders and small manufacturers could source primers from other sources, such as Serbia (Prvi Partizen), Norma (Sweden) or Russia (Tula). For obvious reasons, much of the European supply is unavailable.
I'm hoping that opening the Remington factory means the domestic primer problem has gotten better.
I think it's one more reason we need to take a look at monopolies, industry consolidation and domestic manufacturing of strategic components.
Too many points of failure...
