Was on that bridge last night on the way home from the airport. The problem is they are not replacing it, just adding a bridge beside it that will supposedly handle the through traffic. The original obsolete bridge will remain for local traffic, but there won't be any way to enforce that. I'm glad they are finally doing something about it, but it's still a bandaid. The aging bridge will still have to go at some point.
Another thought - I doubt people will appreciate the extra orange barrel and traffic jams enough to translate to votes.
