    Mr. Dave, slide player and extraordinary musical talent has gone clear. Saw him several times. Once with Ry Cooder, once with Jerry Douglas and Martin Simpson. At least four times as a solo artist or with a drummer. Even had coffee with him and his then drummer, Wally Ingram.

      I have of course seen him with Browne, but one evening at Santa Monica pier are he was playing a free show. This was about 2007 so not many people knew who he was. I recognized him even with gray hair.

      He played the most amazing array of obscure stringed instruments, several I had never seen. A journeyman.
